Mathematical Tricks in Competitive Examination:

The examinations for various government services require to solve mathematical questions in very less time. There are options to select the best answer to a particular question and only few seconds are provided to solve the question. In most of the examinations, there is negative marking and it becomes very difficult to score. Here we will learn:

How to multiply two digit numbers with each other:

In normal mathematics, the computation of two digit numbers like 98 x 66 or 76 x 87 or 43 x 63; take more time to be solved. The following steps will make the time consuming process very short:
Step I: Firstly, multiply the Ones of both numbers. Note down the ones of arrived number (suppose it is a). and carry the tens of arrived number (suppose it is b).
Step II: Secondly, do cross multiplication of Ones of first number to tens of second number and ones of second number to tens of first number.  Note down the arrived two numbers. Suppose these are c and d.
Step III: Thirdly, Add the numbers c and d and the b. Suppose the arrived number is e. The ones of e will be the tens of answer. Note down it and carry the tens of e.
Step IV: Fourth, do cross multiplication of Tens of both numbers and add the digit carried from step III. The arrived number will be thousands of answer followed by hundreds of answer. Suppose this arrived number is f.
Step V: The answer of question can be arrived as f followed by ones of e followed by a

For example:

43 x 63
Step I: 3 x 3 = 9
Step II: (4x3) + (3x6) = 12 + 18 = 30; the ones of 30 is 0. The answer’s ones will be 9 and tens will be 0. Carry the tens of 30 i.e. 3 for next step.
Step III: (4x6) + carried digit = 24 + 3 = 27
Step IV: The answer is 27 followed by 0 and followed by 9 = 2709.
Similarly, you can sort out other two-digit number’s multiplication.

Second Example:

38 x 27

Step I: 8 x 7 = 56, the ones of answer will be 6. Carry 5 to next step.
Step II: (3 x 7) + (8 x 2) = 21 + 16 = 37 + 5 = 42. The tens of answer will be 2. Carry 4 to next step.
Step III: (3x2) + 4 = 6 + 4 = 10. The hundreds of answer will be 0 and the thousands of answer will be 1.
Step IV: Answer will be 1026.
